10+ mistakes Linux newbies make

I found this article from ZDNet Website. It was originally posted on TechRepublic website. You may visit this site HERE. I found this topic quite useful especially i am one of many Linux user and a Novell Certified Linux Professional (NCLP). It's been a long time since i used Linux. At office i once have full access on all the Linux installed PC and server, but since this guy, the no-life guy come to our organization, Linux day in the office are gone... Sad...

Some of us might have used linux for whole of their life, maybe some kind of an expert. They might know this and might have "been there". Especially when you are new, and just wanna venture into Linux. You may find this somewhat funny as i did, because i've done almost all the "mistakes". Hehehe...

So lets get on with the article...

10+ (plus) Mistakes Linux Newbie Make
by Jack Wallen

New desktop users can make plenty of mistakes (as can anyone). But knowing which mistakes to avoid, from the start, helps prevent a LOT of frustration. I’ve handled the topic of mistakes new Linux admins make, but never those of desktop users. Here are some of the most common Linux desktop mistakes I see new users make.

1: Assuming they are using Windows

Although this might seem way too obvious, it’s not. The average user has no idea there are even different operating systems to be had. In fact, most average users couldn’t discern Windows XP from Vista from 7 (unless they are certain Windows 7 was “their idea”). Because of this, new users might believe that everything works (or doesn’t work, as the case may be) as it does in Windows. Make your end users aware that they are using a different operating system — and that it works differently.
KaDuS Bilang: Done This... hehehe... try to do some Windows command on Linux platform. Sampai sia pigi cakap ni sistem buruk... hahahaha. Rupanya lain...

2: Trying to make exe files work

Unless you have done your homework and installed WINE, double-clicking those .exe files simply won’t do anything. And when that happens, your end users are going to be upset. I have seen many an end user download an app made for Windows assuming that it will work for Linux. Make it clear to users that Linux, like Windows, will only run applications made for that operating system. This, of course, is tossed out the window when WINE is involved. But new users won’t be using WINE anyway.
KaDuS Bilang: Even try to install Yahoo! Messenger on Linux until i found Meebo. Then i quit trying although there is a YM Version of Linux... huhuhu

3: Choosing the wrong distribution

One of the biggest problems for users is choosing the wrong distribution. Imagine being a new user and selecting Gentoo or Slackware or Fedora! Yes those are all good distributions, but any of them would send a new user running away in fear. If you are in the initial stages of helping a new user out, do yourselves both a favor and choose the distribution carefully. Consider the user’s ability, needs, and hardware before you make that selection. Don’t just jump on board Ubuntu because everyone says you should. A lot of distributions out there are made specifically for new users. Give them all a close examination before making the choice.
KaDuS Bilang: My first Linux Distro was Red Hat (forgot what version was it) and yes i have no idea what it is all about. Since then i've been using Ubuntu (derived from Debian) and SuSe

4: Not finding software

Because so many new Linux users are migrating from Windows, they think software can be had from the same channels. Most of the time, this is not the case. The new user needs to become familiar with their package management tools right away - especially tools like Synaptic, Packagekit, and Ubuntu Software Center. Each of those tools is a mecca of software where users can most likely find all the applications they need.

5: Sending OpenOffice documents to Microsoft Office users in the default format

I see this so often. New Linux users are proud of the strides they have made but dumbfounded (and sometimes turned back to Windows) because the people they share files with can’t read their formats. Remember, Microsoft products are not good at getting along with other operating systems and other applications. Make sure your new users are saving in file formats that are readable by the Microsoft equivalents.
KaDuS Bilang: I always save my documents in M.Office Format (i.e. .doc, .xls) as i know Open Office can Handle it.

6: Avoiding the command line

I can’t, for the life of me, figure out why people completely avoid the command line as if it is the most complex tool there is. I know people who can work absolute magic with Photoshop but can’t seem to type a simple rm command at the command line. Why this is I will never know. New users shouldn’t shy away from the command line. Knowing the command line isn’t essential anymore, but it will make them more capable users.
KaDuS Bilang: I've tried to avoid this during my first time, but i can't because i have trouble findings application that i want to run, or removing a folder or file when i have to forced remove it. hehehe...

7: Giving up too quickly

Here’s another issue I see all too often. After a few hours (or a couple of days) working with Linux, new users will give up for one reason or another. I understand giving up when they realize something simply doesn’t work (such as when they MUST use a proprietary application or file format). But seeing Linux not work under average demands is rare these days. If you see new Linux users getting frustrated, try to give them a little extra guidance. Sometimes getting over that initial hump is the biggest challenge they will face.
KaDuS Bilang: Never Do this. i never quit Linux, although i rarely used it... hehehe

8: Thinking the Windows directory hierarchy translates to Linux

There is no C:\ in Linux. Nor do you use the “\” character. Nor should you use spaces in filenames. These are common mistakes new users make. Trying to map out Windows to Linux, directory for directory, is impossible. You can get as far as C:\ = / and maybe Default User = ~/, but beyond that you’re out of luck. Make sure new users understand that everything starts at / and their most important directory is their home directory (aka ~/ aka /home/USERNAME/).
KaDuS Bilang: First question sia dulu, "MANA C Drive?" hehehe... Until i use Ubuntu (or any other KDE Linux) where i can mount C (or any Drive) and use it like windows. heheheh

9: Skipping updates

I have been burned with Windows updates many times. Need I bother mentioning the update from Explorer 7 to Explorer 8? Very rarely has a Linux update fubar’d a system of mine. In fact, I can’t remember the last time it has. So I am always up to date on my systems… and with good reason. Those updates bring new security patches and features to software and should be applied. Having an installation with a security hole is not what your users need, especially on a machine that houses important information.
KaDuS Bilang: On top of that it will take a very looong time to update Linux if you haven't update for a long time and making you much frustrated. Hehehe

10: Logging in as root

I really shouldn’t have to say this. But just in case, be sure to tell your users DON’T LOG IN AS ROOT! But… just in case they must… DON’T LOG IN AS ROOT! Instead, have them open up a terminal window and either “su” to root or use “sudo”. And just in case you didn’t hear me the first time, DON’T LOG IN AS ROOT!
KaDuS Bilang: Never do this. Once i was explained about this i never login as root until i really confident and know what am i doing.

11: Losing windows to the pager

The pager is one of the handiest features of the Linux desktops. But over and over, I’ve seen that new users don’t quite understand what the pager is for and what it does. Because of this, they will “lose” their windows from the desktop. Where did it go? It was there a moment ago! I guess it crashed. No. More than likely, they moved it to another desktop. Another desktop? You see where this is going? Help the new user understand what the pager is and how useful it can be.
KaDuS Bilang: This can be quite confusing if nobody explain to me before...

12: Ignoring security because it’s Linux

A big part of me still wants to boast and say, “In the 12 years I have used Linux, I have never once had a virus or worm or been hacked.” Although that is true, it doesn’t mean I should ignore security. I have witnessed the effects of a rootkit on a Linux machine. They aren’t pretty and data will be lost. Tell your users that they can’t ignore security just because they’re using Linux. Security is crucial, regardless of the OS.
KaDuS Bilang: Yup... this is true. I know that virus/worm infection on Linux machine is rare, but once infected, it will effect in a long time. Lucky me, i never encounter this. Hehehehe

KaDuS Bilang:
Bah kamu cuba lah.. kasi pas2 ni pengetahuan sama semua urang... Hehehe.

Happy Malaysia Day!!!

While i know i'm late in wishing all Malaysian (it's 17th September 2010 - the celebration was on 16th September 2010), i hope readers (if any) wont feel angry with me. Hehe... Well, here it is, Happy Malaysia Day to All Malaysian, especially the state that joined the Malaya Federation to formed Malaysia on 16th September 1963. For this year Malaysia Days, i would like to include this article found on Wikipedia for our viewing pleasure.

The 20-Point Agreement.

This act as a terms and condition for North Borneo (Sabah's old name) to join the new Federation of Malaysia. The main reason for this conditions is to make sure that the interest, rights and autonomy are to be safeguards when they join Malaysia. Sarawak State do have their own condition, known as The 18-Points Agreement. It is important for younger generation (like me) to know what it is inside the 20-Point Agreement so that thay can trully understand what Malaysia Day are for them. Sia rasalah... hehehe

So Here is the 20-Points of Agreements for Sabah (Copy from Wikipedia!)

Point 1: Religion

While there was no objection to Islam being the national religion of Malaysia there should be no State religion in North Borneo, and the provisions relating to Islam in the present Constitution of Malaya should not apply to North Borneo

Point 2: Language

  • a. Malay should be the national language of the Federation
  • b. English should continue to be used for a period of 10 years after Malaysia Day
  • c. English should be an official language of North Borneo for all purposes, State or Federal, without limitation of time.

Point 3: Constitution

Whilst accepting that the present Constitution of the Federation of Malaya should form the basis of the Constitution of Malaysia, the Constitution of Malaysia should be a completely new document drafted and agreed in the light of a free association of states and should not be a series of amendments to a Constitution drafted and agreed by different states in totally different circumstances. A new Constitution for North Borneo (Sabah) was of course essential.

Point 4: Head of Federation

The Head of State in North Borneo should not be eligible for election as Head of the Federation

Point 5: Name of Federation

“Malaysia” but not “Melayu Raya”

Point 6: Immigration

Control over immigration into any part of Malaysia from outside should rest with the Central Government but entry into North Borneo should also require the approval of the State Government. The Federal Government should not be able to veto the entry of persons into North Borneo for State Government purposes except on strictly security grounds. North Borneo should have unfettered control over the movements of persons other than those in Federal Government employ from other parts of Malaysia into North Borneo.

Point 7: Right of Secession

There should be no right to secede from the Federation.

Point 8: Borneanisation

Borneanisation of the public service should proceed as quickly as possible.

Point 9: British Officers

Every effort should be made to encourage British Officers to remain in the public service until their places can be taken by suitably qualified people from North Borneo.

Point 10: Citizenship

The recommendation in paragraph 148(k) of the Report of the Cobbold Commission should govern the citizenship rights in the Federation of North Borneo subject to the following amendments:
  • a) sub-paragraph (i) should not contain the proviso as to five years residence
  • b) in order to tie up with our law, sub-paragraph (ii)(a) should read “7 out of 10 years” instead of “8 out of 10 years”
  • c) sub-paragraph (iii) should not contain any restriction tied to the citizenship of parents – a person born in North Borneo after Malaysia must be federal citizen.

Point 11: Tariffs and Finance

North Borneo should retain control of its own finance, development and tariff, and should have the right to work up its own taxation and to raise loans on its own credit.

Point 12: Special position of indigenous races

In principle the indigenous races of North Borneo should enjoy special rights analogous to those enjoyed by Malays in Malaya, but the present Malaya formula in this regard is not necessarily applicable in North Borneo

Point 13: State Government

  • a) the Chief Minister should be elected by unofficial members of Legislative Council
  • b) There should be a proper Ministerial system in North Borneo.

Point 14: Transitional period

This should be seven years and during such period legislative power must be left with the State of North Borneo by the Constitution and not be merely delegated to the State Government by the Federal Government.

Point 15: Education

The existing educational system of North Borneo should be maintained and for this reason it should be under state control.

Point 16: Constitutional safeguards

No amendment modification or withdrawal of any special safeguard granted to North Borneo should be made by the Central Government without the positive concurrence of the Government of the State of North Borneo
The power of amending the Constitution of the State of North Borneo should belong exclusively to the people in the state.

(Note: The United Party, The Democratic Party and the Pasok Momogun Party considered that a three-fourth majority would be required in order to effect any amendment to the Federal and State Constitutions whereas the UNKO and USNO considered a two-thirds majority would be sufficient.)

Point 17: Representation in Federal Parliament

This should take account not only of the population of North Borneo but also of its size and potentialities and in any case should not be less than that of Singapore.

Point 18: Name of Head of State

Yang di-Pertua Negeri.

Point 19: Name of State

Sabah.

Point 20: Land, Forests, Local Government, etc.

The provisions in the Constitution of the Federation in respect of the powers of the National Land Council should not apply in North Borneo. Likewise, the National Council for Local Government should not apply in North Borneo.

Why Insult My State, Sabah?

"Why insult Sabah? What has the state of Sabah done wrong to you? Do you have any problem with us?"

This is some of the question i might ask to the SOB kid tha has been insulting The state of Sabah although indirectly. Hmm... Using a social networking website such as Facebook to "express opinion" towards one states was a silly things to do. Everybody can see that. Mind as well he wrote a special column in the national newspaper about what he dislike about Sabah.

This happened few days ago when i saw a screenshot of a comment written in the Facebook wall of one Luca Lukas. Dunno whether this is a real person or just a hantu lah. Don't even dare to put his real location, real picture.. Cowards. I guess most of my FB friends has seen that comment and to be frank it's hurts just to read it... Ini kah yg derang mo kasi bangga tu konsep 1 Malaysia? Hmmm... Guess this guy don't even know how many states there are in Malaysia. Although you are not directly insulting Sabah, but your intention is that you are insulting Sabah... Bodoh Btul.

To compare Sabah with another 'developed' states is a stupid things to do. Every states in Malaysia ada kelebihan and kelemahan. You want to compare the advantage with the disadvantages? adei... kenapalah ko ni budu btul...? Kenapa lah Sabah cuma ada Gunung Kinabalu yg buli dibanggakan? At least our Gunung is rated as one of the toughest mountain to climb in the world. It has brought Malaysia name as one of the Top tourist destination in the world. Same goes to Pulau Sipadan. Kalau ko pikir bagus2, we have contributed some of Malaysia economics via tourism. Sama juga macam negeri lain.  So smua ada peranan bah. Yg ko nda puas ati kenapa? What is your contribution towards your country? States? Or even your community? Oh, maybe you are as proud by your contribution as a foul mouth SOB, who don't even know anything. Sia rasakan, kalau teda sumbangan ekonomi dari negeri Sabah dan negeri lain2 di Malaysia ni, blum tentu ko dapat guna Facebook or even surf the internet. Hahahaha...

Talk about illegal immigrant, okay, i do admit, mmg berlambak lah di sini. But pikir balik little boy... Do you think that ur place is 100% clear of all this illegal immigrant problem? So tinguk ko pinya persekitaran sebelum ko cuba mo critics pasal tempat urang... Blajar cermin diri sindri sebelum ko mo komen urang len...

About kakitangan kerajaan dari semenanjung yg kerja di sini... I guess ko mimang nda tau apa2 pasal kerajaan Malaysia... Ko tentu nda tau yg derang pigi bertugas di sini bukan atas permintaan derang, tapi atas arahan kerajaan yg berpusat di ibu negara, KUALA LUMPUR. ko tau ka di mana KL? I guess u don't know, sebab tu lah ko cakap macam tu kan. Go back to school u idiot... Ambil Pengajian Malaysia or Pengajian AM. Jan lupa ambil Pengajian Moral. It can help u in the long run... Trust me...

Banyak lai daa yg sia mo tulis, but i don't want to be labeled as racist. Luca Lukas, seriusly talking u have what it takes to be the number one racist in the Malaysia... Ada sudah ciri-ciri ko tu. Kalau sia kasi post what u've said in ur FB wall sini, maybe api kemarahan urang Sabah akan lebih meningkat. So better jangan... Ko pikr ja lah sindri... Keep your mouth running and be ready for a lot of police reports being made towards you... When it happened i'll be one of many people to laugh...So Luca Lukas, or whatever this SOB name is, Grow Up! Please...

End of opinion... Hahahaha

KENTE 2: Heat 2 Result

Back... Nor From Exile. Hehehehe... Okay, Don't waste any more time. Let's go on with this review. The KaDuS Entertainment Next Top Entertainer competition that entered Heat two last Friday, 5 Mac 2010. The Audience respoded to me that this heat so far has become the best heat in this season of KE Next Top Entertainer. This heat build up from the low to the highest quality of performances. On paper, this heat is bills as one of the toughest out of 5 heats and it's proved to be true, as 10 contestant trying hard to give their best of convincing the three judges that night to be the top 2 automatic entry to the Final.

The Top two contestant who make it to the finals are As Bryan Amre and Rudy Paul Pailus. Both manage to convince the judges to select them as two of the best singer that night. There were hope left for two female contestant (both heat 2 finalist are male), as they were both handed another chance to perform in one more heat, namely the Wild Card Heat where the top 2 of this heat will gain a backdoor entry to the Grand Finale. Jeniffer Julius, impressed the judges to vote for her, while the audience voted for Jasliah Elon as their choice to have another go at the competition. The Wildcard Round will be on 3rd April and the Grand Finale will be held on 16th April 2010.

THE FINALIST

Rudy Paul Pailus (Surprised Everyone with his vocal power) & As Bryan Amre (The predicted finalist by fans)

THE WILD CARD ENTRY

Jasliah Elon (Crowd Choices) & Jeniffer Julius (Judges Choices)

THE OTHER CONTESTANT...

Felicity Binsin (Failed to perform well because of health problem) & Veronica J Moingkal (Want to be known as VJ. Happy Go Lucky character)

Lina Maigol (2nd Time entering KENTE.) & Fairot Sinang (I personally thought he perform well, but failed to impress the judges.)

Devrenny Disin (Fan Favorite, Did well in both song) & Elvina Jane Justin (Energetic performance (with Jeniffer), Direct competition with Jeniffer)

The KENTE 2: Heat 2 Contestant
From L - R (Felicity, Veronica, Lina, Jasliah, As Bryan, Fairot, Jeniffer, Devrenny, Jayne & Rudy)

Those Lucky one
L-R (Jasliah (Audience), Jennifer (Judges) - As Bryan (Finalist) & Rudy (Finalist)

By far, this is the best heat of KENTE 2. The surprised performance from Rudy Paul Pailus received a well deserved ovation from the crowds. They didnt expect this would come from Rudy, Decent turns into Brilliant Performance. Personally, the moment i listened to Rudy's Voices, i knew straightly that this guy will go to the final, but before that, he will rocks Pusakag Cafe. He did it. He end the night on a high note.

It is too early to say that this is the Best Heat. We still have heat 3, 4 and 5 not forgetting the Wildcard Heat. They might have an idea on what they will do to impressed these really hard judges. So, be there to witness maybe another shock or surprised by KENTE 2 contestant. Come to Pusakag Cafe this Saturday, 13 March 2010 at 6:30pm and see who will go straight to the Grand Finale and to the Wild Card heat, The backdoor to the Finale. Pic Credit: babasteve

This is what happen when the weekends is too long. Feel very sleepy at work. This is my condition at the moment. I feel very sleepy, if i were to be given pillow now, i will fall asleep. Kompom. But this is not due to the effect of Night out or doing late night stuff. I Just Can't Sleep. DJ? Nah, can't do that at the moment, with the streamyxs line slow? i can't stream a thing. Another problem arise when the computer i used to DJ with is having problem. Suddenly bagi sia masalah. I've been trying many ways, to repair it, tapi sama juga. The last option is to format it? Hua... Format, with all my data and songs inside... hmmm... So that's the reason why. Whenever i do get an access to the internet via streamyx, i was using my old but reliable pc. The quality, well, not up to what i expected. Bah, pakai ubuntu kan..so what d'ya expect? hehehe

Many of my colleague are still on leave. Still having their CNY Holidays, or i love to say it, blum habis limau mandarin. Hehehehe. Just Jocking lah... While they enjoying their holidays, some people has to come to works as usual. The Extra two Days Off, on top of the normal weekend makes people feel that they are having a long, very long paid holidays. For some people, they might find this holiday is boring and need to come back to work ASAP. Ya la... given their current working environment is good. Ada yang harap cuti dapat dilanjutkan sampai, what maybe satu bulan? tu mungkin pasal enviroment tempat kerja macam hell. Am i? I am confidently answer yes! hehehe.

When all he symptom is put together in one day, then you will get people yawning, just like our friend in the picture. Not exactly like him lah, sebab dia yawn dengan penuh perasaan. Kalau urang, pandai kasi tapuk2 lai tu mo yawn... It's normal ba. Nothing to be ashamed of. Kalau kana tanya samada menantuk or nda, and kalau mo cover, cakap ja kurang oksigen. hahaha..

I Guess it is not too late for me to wish each and everyone of you Gong Xi Fa Chai. May the Year of the Tiger Brings More Prosperity to You And Your Family!!! Yeah!!! (so u can also belanja me for yamcha session... hehehe)

Just A Post

Sunset @ TG. Aru Beach

I personally love this pic. The original pic can be viewed at my facebook Album. I edited this pic as i want to see how i can manipulate it. Balik balik sia cuba pun macam sia ndada idea. Just maybe i'm satisfied with it, although a lot of friends comment that this could be better. Well, i'm stil RE-LEARNING my photography using my latest toy. Since i haven't took much picture lately, i guess i have fall back into novice level. Nda pa lah. Love it.

While taking this pic, i've been thinking about a lot of things. Nda juga center pikiran sia time tu. Life lah paling banyak sia pikir... Sometime i see life just like the sun. Rise in the morning with a new hope, strikingly at it's peak in the noon, and finally set it self in the evening. Kita kana kasi lahir, with hope and everything, and at one time kia akan berada dalam kita punya puncak kehidupan. Lastly, secara, pelan-pelan, kita akan kasi tinggal juga everything yang kita pernah buat or achieve di dunia nie. Sometime dari pagi, matahari nda kelihatan sebab mendung. Mo ujan. Life pun begitu. Some people live their life without people noticing it, and it went well. Nobody will ever know. Tapi, kalau sini cuaca mendung, kita nda nampak matahari, but in the other side of the world, matahari terang benderang, panas... Well, same goes with life. We might not notice their presence in our life, but somewhere, they are brightening other people life. Macam mana pun situasi dia, at the end of the day, the sun will set itself. Tenggelam juga akhirnya. Nanti malam urang akan cakap, maybe this dialog. "Wah, panas btul oh matahari tadi, memancar." or, "Hujan lebat... mendung saja". So, life pun begitu... Bila kita meninggalkan kesan sama idup seseorang, urang akan ingat... samada kesan bagus or nda, urang akan cakap2 juga tu... tapi kalau kita ndada kasi tinggal apa2 urang nda akan cakap... Begitu kah? wekekekeke

That's life... dari yang sia nampak... Macam matahari ni. Hahahahaha... Apa yang sia tulis ni... sia pun nda mengerti... Whatever lah...

KaDuS Bilang:
Matahari yang panas sejak kebelakangan ni... wekekekek. Bila mo ujan nda tau... tapi nanti ujan, sia cakap juga tu.. nanti ada juga pic ujan ni.. hahaha.. Have a Nice Day Everyone...

Long absent yet again from me. Gosh, i guess my ideas on what to write has dried up. Nah i dont think so. Time is the main reason why it is hard for me to sit and type something for this blog. Thanks to Facebook and Twitter for introducing a much easier way to update on whatever happenings. Huhuhu. Ever heard of the song "Video Kills The Radio Stars"? Well the should habe created a song in titled "Facebook/Twitter Kills The Blog Site". Hehehe. Well not all bloggers stop blogging when FB emerges as one of the informative site, in my point of view lah... A lot of them still active blogging, and still gaining a lots of readers. On top of that, they too have their own facebook site and update it daily... The only problem, is me, myself... Hehehe...

As being said earlier, the reason for my inactive mood is due to time. I simply dont have time to update my blog(s) as i used before. This also due to my tight schedule with my day Job and also all my partime job. Day job, requires me to start as early as 7:50am and finishes at about 5:30 to 6pm. Home, will be doing some house work and then i will have my rest... I need to get ready for m DJ session at midnite til 2am or sometimes 3am. Tight right. Hmmm.

Facebook/Twitter have made me much easier to update on whatever happenings on my daily life, to express my opinion/feelings towards anything and for promotional/marketing tools. Well for Facebook i just need to updae my status, and it will be made available on my 1.6k+ friends. Although i doubt that anybody would care to read about what i post, but, there might be some people reading it kan... Maybe accidently bump into my profile... Hehehe.
If i apply his to my marketing strategy, people will have the curiousity to know more and het the info once my update is update with, maybe some interesting offer.. Hehehe.

I don't want to promise anything, coz i know, i'm not getting that much readers to my blog(s) but i will try to update this blog as much as possible. Especially with this application i got from the internet. It is called BlogPress. It's a application that let you blog from you mobile device. BlogPress is simple to use and have most of the function offerred by the web based Blogger/Blogspot. I haven't go through all of it features but what's important to me is that i can use this to blog, whenever, wherever i want, given i have an active internet line, be it GPRS, EDGE, 3G or Wifi. I've been using Facebook and Twitter (Twitterrific) to update status, and check on my account and i am satisfied with it. So i hope BlogPress can do the same for me... Oh, FYI, this is the first post via BlogPress from my mobile device. Sorry for a lot of typo error, as i am in the midst of gettin used to this keypad, and it is hard for me... Huhuhu.

Tribute Song: Gone Too Soon

This song is a tribute to my first cousin, who recently passed away last Saturday, 16/01/2010.

"It's only a week since you left us, but we have already missing you. No more can we see your smile, listen to your jokes and share stories with you. Only pictures and our very own memories will reminds us of you. While you are smiling there, we are still in shocked and grieving for your sudden death. Hurts, Disbelief, Angry are some of the feeling in our hearts. Sometimes, we thought that God is not being fair for taking you too soon, but when we look back, God love you even more, so he took you to be beside him up there and show you how much He love you. All we can do is pray and ask for God to give you Eternal Rest..."

Bonaventure, Boni, Bonak, Otoi, Daddy, Abang, Uncle, Mamai, Wherever You Might Be At This Moment, You Must Know That We Missed You and We Love You So Much, only that you have Gone Too Soon..."

In Loving Memory Of:
BONAVENTURE MOJITOH
"Until We Meet Again..."

The Longest Week

Finally... it's Sunday. This was one of the most hectic, stressful, shocking and sad week in my life. I wish i never been in this kind of situation anymore, but i only could wish... God is the one who decide it. Like the way He took my cousin last Saturday...

Last Saturday, i was at the office doing overtime. Friday, was at Kudat and was sick because of the non-stop raining weather over there. But i still think that i am up to the work and just go on Saturday, although i have difficulties waking up in the morning. Just starting to do my job, phone start ringing, and my dad called, telling me that my cousin is unconscious and has been rushed to the hospital. When i arrived, he was already gone... That is the starting of my miserable week.

Come Monday, The new Computer System is scheduled to be launched live by the management. I have no option but to skip work, and attend my cousin funeral, which was held on the same day. But the Go-Live plan was not materialized, as there is some things to be sorted out, and re-scheduled for 19 Jan 2010. Came back to work on Tuesday, was bombarded with tasks, i.e. making sure everything runs smooth. Although my mind not that ready, as I'm still mourning or the sudden death of my cousin, I've tried my best to overcome it. Not that successful though as the memories remains...

Wednesday, the effect of rain at Kudat and on the day of the Funeral, starting to emerge. Sign of dizziness, plus my body temperature slowly risen up... But it become worst on Thursday, my stomach giving me problems, as i've turned the office toilet as my second office. hehehehe... Suspect food poisoning. Afternoon, my body temperature, rose up dramatically and i was weak until the evening. Sikit lai nda buli drive pulang, tapi sia paksa juga lah...

Friday, i'm taking emergency leave as once again, i have troubles waking up, but this time, it has become worst. Kepala berat btul, badan panas... and the first thing yang sia buli buat after sia dapat bangun... visiting the toilet, yet again. Time to see the doctor, tapi petang sudah baru sia daat pigi ni... Yesterday, Migraine pula ynag mengattack... arrrgghhhh...

On top of everything, Stress is the number one word for me in January. With works, life, commitments and my surroundings. It's really hard for me to take this. How can you live in a very stressful situation created by someone who things he owned everthing? nda juga pernah begini before, but since this dude arrived, i have to be extra careful when doing things or talk, as everything will be used against me. Huhuhuhu. The worst thing is, this dude proud of his Stressful Enviroment of his creation and eager to get people live in his way of life... gosh...

So tommorow, a new days, a new weeks... hope everything will be back to normal, except for the stressful situation. I doubt it will end soon. Dunno when it will end... Dear God, help me to overcome this...

Happy New Year (3 days delay)

Happy New Year

Happy New Year... Well... im a bit late to say this... The reason... Simple saja... non stop drinking activities for the past few days... and only today i feel that i am really sober... AM I??? Hehehehe... It's Sunday, the 3rd of January 2009. Tomorrow, will be the first day on the year that i will be back for works... Arrgghhh... works... nasiblah ko ni pemberi utama hasil poket ku... kalau nda... huhuhu.. you know it... Then will be back on stress mode... again, ditambah lagi dengan boss yang hobby dia is to create a stressful environment within staff... When will he repent??? I doubt he will... hehehehe...

2009 has been a great year for me, but not the best ever. Will talk about this in my yearly annual 'not-so-important' post about happenings in 2009. But now let's talk about 2010, since i don't have any idea what to wrote here... Blogging was part of my life. until Facebook emerge as the number 1 social networking site in Malaysia, or atleast in my eyes. Facebook has became the fastest marketing tools that i ever know via the internet and has the biggest effect on our very own event, the KE: Next Top Entertainer 1, well thanks ti DJ Othoe of SuriaFM as well, but the effect of Facebook in 2009, was marvelous. Even i was and still affected. i have abandoned my Friendster account (although i check it sometime), will i left this bog same as i left Friendster?... Nah... i don't think so... i still think that blogs has a significant role in today's world. I still can feel that blogs will re-emerge to become one of the 'needs' of people. I will try to change my blog, starting with the domain, then slowly will merge it to a new web hosting. Will i succeed? hmmm... I will... So later will update lah what i will be doing next...

Apa azam ko mark? hehehehe... tipikal question from everyone that wishes and then asked a question. What are my azam? does my 2009 resolutions has been fulfill? To be frank lah... i don't have any... I only have a hit list. The reason why i don't have resolutions was, the last time i make one, i failed miserably... so, i change it to my hit list. last year hit list, i manage to comple 80% of it. quite a good achievement la. Well some might notice my hit list was. Kamu tau tau saja lah... nda mo lah sia cakap sini...

2010, should brings more stability and more prosperity, not only to myself but also tu our country... But Sadly, 2010 started with some religion issue, that i rather not comment here. It hurts to see this is the starts of 2010 and for me it is the worst start, tapi nda la seteruk sia pinya start bila tayar krita sia pancit, gara-gara telanggar paku. Tah sepa yang pintar btul pigi buang paku di jalan raya... sabotaj kah??? wakakakaka

I wish i could do the twist...

While browsing for video in YouTube i've stumble upon a very classic vid by Chubby Checker with the song called The Twist and Let's Twist Again. What the heck am i doing listening for twist songs in the middle of the morning? Hahahahaha.

The Twist (1960)

Let's Twist Again (1961)

The Twist
The song was written and originally released by Hank Ballard and the Midnighters in 1959, but didn't get much response, only peaking up at number 28 on the Billboard Top 100. Chubby Checker did a cover version of this song and managed to gained popularity both for him and the song. It was the start of the Twist Crazed Era for most of music lover.

Let's Twist Again
This song is a follow up version of 'The Twist song, and an attempt by Chubby Checker to keep the craze (of the twist) alive in 1961. Amazingly he did it as the song become a smash hits that year and one of the most popular song in the UK when it reah numbe 2 spots. in 1962, the song receive a Grammy Award for Best Rock & Roll Recording

The Twist Dance
According to Wikipedia:
"The Twist is performed by standing with the feet approximately shoulder width apart. The torso may be squared to the knees and hips, or turned at an angle so one foot is farther forward than the other. The arms are held out from the body, bent at the elbow. The hips, torso, and legs rotate on the balls of the feet as a single unit, with the arms staying more or less stationary. The feet grind back and forth on the floor, and the dance can be varied in speed, intensity, and vertical height as necessary. Occasionally one leg is lifted off the floor for styling, but generally the dance posture is low and with the feet in contact with the floor with very little vertical motion."

Easy... ? Maybe for some of you... but for me, hmm... not that easy. I really wish i could do this 'simple' dance. I don't have the talent to dance so this might contribute to the reason why i can't dance.

What make this songs refresh in my mind is when i listen it again in our Annual PRIDE Camp held at Mimpian Jadi Resort June this year. (Sabah Credit Corporation organised this Camp yearly) A group of my colleague perform "The Twist" Live in front of us, and i have to admit it that i am really amazed by their performance. The include an element of Hip Hop in the song and creativity in their dance, and you've might have guess it, they do win. Brilliant.

Growing up watching the late Tan SriP.Ramlee movies, i notice that there is a lot of movies that have a twist dance scene in it especially movies released in the 60's. One most famous movie was Tiga Abdul, where there is a Twist Dance Scene where Tan Sri P.Ramlee jamming with his band with the song, Bunyi Gitar. That sing become all time favorite and almost every wedding i go, someone will sing that song and dance to it. Cool!

Bunyi Gitar (1964 - Tiga Abdul Film)

Happy 36th Birthday Ryan Giggs: True Red Devil!

"I DID NOT OWN THIS ARTICLE. THIS ARTICLE WAS FIRST PUBLISHED AT Presstv, and written BY SAM K PARKS-KIA. All credit should go to the writer and the websites who hosts this article. Thank You"
Ryan Giggs: The one-club legend

by Sam K Parks-Kia

"Giggs... gets past Vieira, past Dixon... it's a wonderful run from Giggs! A sensational goal from Ryan Giggs!... Stunned Arsenal fans... He just barbed in, weaved in, kept going... and when he needed a finish... by god he gave his one... what a strike! After beating three, four, five players! Wonderful... wonderful finish to win any football match," commentators Andy Gray and Martin Tyler said during the replay of the FA Cup semifinal between Manchester United and Arsenal at Villa Park, on April 14, 1999.

That spontaneous outburst of excellence complemented with a magical final touch — which was the last-ever goal to be scored in an FA Cup semifinal Replay — re-established Ryan Giggs, who has been redefining class and pushing barriers and limits since the early '90s.

Born Ryan Joseph Wilson to Danny Wilson and Lynne Giggs, the most decorated player of Manchester United turns 36 on November 29 — giving me an excuse to not only celebrate his birthday, but also a remarkable career.

Giggs, who was on the brink of joining United rival Manchester City, had an uninvited guest showing up at his doorstep on his 14th birthday; and that guest was no other than Sir Alex Ferguson, who had personally went there to offer Ryan a deal he could not possibly resist.

Two years after his parents' separation, Ryan changed his last name to Giggs. However, the change came by chance, when just before a foreign tour, it was found that the young star did not have a passport.

In the process of applying for a passport, Ryan decided to go by his mother's last name.

In March 1991, Giggs, sporting the famous number 11 shirt, made his debut as a substitute for Denis Irwin in a 2-0 home defeat to Everton. However, his first league that start in the 1991-92 season proved to be a remarkable one, as he scored his first-ever United goal against City in the Manchester derby.

Little did he know then that he was on track to score in each and every league season that there was to come, marking 19 seasons of scoring non-stop. He is currently the only player, who has scored in every Premiere League season since its inception. For Ryan, the sky was the limit.

Being a humble athlete, Giggs never agreed to talk to the press until he was 20, and refused to live the life of a celebrity.

The Washman embarked on a journey of success, becoming the first player to win the Professional Footballers' Association (PFA) Young Player of the Year award twice, and the first to win the award in two consecutive seasons — the 1991-92 and 1992-3 seasons.

In the following season, two astonishing strikes against Tottenham Hotspurs and Queens Park Rangers from Ryan Giggs helped United to achieve their first League and FA Cup double.

The "boy wonder," as some used to call him when he first debuted, now holds the record of the best goal-scorer for a non-striker in the English Premier League.

In 1995-96 he achieved another double, the "Double Double," with United, before experiencing the 1999 treble — which marked the first instance of a club winning three trophies, with one being the UEFA Champions League, in a single season.

Needless to say it was Ryan's goal against Arsenal and his assistance to Teddy Sheringham — who scored the equalizer in the Champions League final at Camp Nou in United's last-minute 2-1 victory over Bayern Munich — that made it all possible.

Although he was an indispensible asset to Sir Alex, Giggs' Wales career never really took off. Despite missing most of the international friendlies due to his club's policies, he became a national icon and the captain of his country; however, he never enjoyed the same success with Wales as he did with the Red Devils.

In 2001 Giggs picked up a hamstring injury and for the first season since 1997-98, United went trophyless in 2001-02, with Arsenal taking the domestic double, and Bayer Leverkusen eliminating United in the Champions League semifinal.

Just as Ryan celebrated "10 years at Old Trafford" with a testimonial match against Celtic in 2001-02, critics and even some fans started to question Giggs' form for the first time, disputing his ability to return to his highest level — which as some might put was too high for most players to begin with.

His descent from grace peaked in February 2003, when he missed an open goal against Arsenal in the 5th round of the FA Cup at Old Trafford, where United was defeated 0-2.

Following the incident Giggs proved all his critics wrong, scoring a vital equalizer at Highbury — Arsenal's then home — in the same season to lead his side to the Premier League trophy.

Ten days later, his performance against Juventus at the Stadio Del Alpi was reminiscent of his form in 1999.

"The United number 11 shrugged off mounting criticism from the fans to score a breathtaking goal reminiscent of his classic goal against Arsenal in 1999. Picking up the ball on the halfway line, he weaved through the Juve back four then fired coolly past Buffon with his right foot before pointing to his name on his shirt," The Mirror Football wrote of his performance in United's 3-0 victory against Juventus.

In the 2003-04 season, Giggs was back at his best, with Sir Alex giving him license to play the way he knows best: terrorizing defenders and scoring crucial goals.

In the interests of maintaining his club career at the highest level, Ryan retired from international football with Wales in June 2007, after 64 games and 12 goals. In October 2007, he extended his contract with United to June 2009 and consequently until the end of the 2009-10 season.

The year 2007 was one of special significance to Giggs, since he was awarded the OBE (Order of the British Empire) for his services to football and scored his 100th league career goal in the 4-0 home win over Derby County in December the same year. It was also the year in which he married his long-time beloved Stacey Cooke.

Five months later, Giggs broke Sir Bobby Charlton's record of 758 appearances for United in the UEFA Champions League's final, where he converted a decisive penalty in the shootouts to lift the European trophy for the second time.

During the 2008-09 season Ferguson assigned Giggs to a more central position in the midfield where he is right behind the strikers, where Roy Kean offered most of his contribution during his United career.

To date, Ryan has made 818 appearances for the Reds, scoring 150 goals — 100 of which were in the Premier League. He holds one of the best disciplinary records ever held. Throughout his career as a United player he has never been sent off and has only received 27 yellow cards — that translates into less than 1.5 yellow cards per season.

The Welshman scored his 100th Premier League goal in Manchester United's 4-1 victory over Portsmouth on November 28, a day before celebrating his 36th birthday.

In April 2009, Ryan Giggs won the Professional Footballers' Association (PFA) Player of the Year award for the first time in his career. However, what was more surprising than Ryan winning the trophy at the age of 35 was that he had not been named the PFA Player of the Year sooner.

Throughout his career Ryan has received offers from high-profile clubs such as the Italian giant Inter, but has always expressed his passion for Manchester United, saying that he would want his professional career to end where it started — at Old Trafford.

"It was never a consideration to leave," said Giggs after winning the award. "I was linked with a few clubs but it was never really close. Why would I think about it when I was always happy here?"

On a more personal level, Giggs was a humanitarian. As a UNICEF ambassador, in 2002 he campaigned to prevent landmines from killing children. In 2006, Ryan visited South Africa to fight HIV/AIDS.

"We talk about footballers being brave when they play on in a game when they're injured… but that's nothing compared to the bravery of this man and what he is going through. His strength of character is an inspiration," Giggs said of an HIV positive patient in Soweto, South Africa, in 2006.

Ryan currently lives with Stacey and their two children Liberty and Zach in Worsley, Salford.

Here are some of the achievements of the magnificent no. 11:

Contoh LG5 CHIND 33399. Sama-samalah kita menyokong Senisah Majilin untuk mencapai impiannya.
