Another Win for Man Utd: Man. Utd 4-2 Stoke City

Normal service resume as Man. Utd defeated Stoke City by 4-2 in the EPL game.
All the striker score, which mean we had one of the deadliest strike force in the EPL. Rooney actually score 3 goal, but unfortunately, one was an own goal, that give Stoke a lead in the first half. The Final Score was Man. Utd 4-2 Stoke City. Goals by Rooney (2), Van Persie & Welbeck while Stoke goals came from an own goal by Rooney and Knightly. Oh, Michael Owen made a return to Old Trafford in This Match. Still remember the goal he scored against Man City and his hatrick in the Champions League. Class.

As things stands, Chelse still leads the EPL by 4 points, Man Utd share the same point with Man City but with goal different advantage.

Glory Glory Man Utd

Currently Listening To: Take Over by Mizz Nina feat. Flo Rida

Good Day... i'm blogging after a very long absent... yes, A VERY LONG Absent. Works come up, all of the sudden everything became so and so mess up. I didnt have time to write on my blog. Even have less time to check on my Facebook. Well, given that i have yhe apps install on both my phone still i can't find time to use it. But i still have time to try a new sport in Golf. But that another story. hehehehe...

Well, this time around, i would like to let you, KaDuSVillian to listen to a great song by our very own, Mizz Nina. As some of you might known, Mizz Nina is one of the member of Teh Tarik Crew (not sure still a member or not). She made her name by collaborating with Colby O'Donis in a song What You Waiting For. Now she made a big step, by singing a song featuring American Rapper and singer-songwriter, Flo Rida with Take Over.

This for me is one of the best song i heard in 2011. Catchy tunes, and yes the melody has stuck in my head! I rarely review international song, but this really make me want say something as for me, this song is cool. Well, hope you enjoy listening to this, and i really hope there is more to come from Mizz Nina!

Saying Houston,
We got a little problem, we got a little problem,
I, Imma gonna solve em’
Saying Houston,
We got a little problem, we got a little problem,
Cause Imma gonna rock em’

Enjoy Y'All!

my life... do i have one?

Hi KaDuSVillian, sorry for the long update. I actually way too busy with life. Life a an working adult, part-time businessman, part-tike student. Hell, im involve in both district and state level kaamatan committee. Both in Sugandoi competition. For those who dont know what im talking about above, let me explain a bit. Kaamatan is a celebration celebrated by KadazanDusun like me in Sabah. It is a harvest festival where people will celebrate the paddy harvest season. Although nowadays people hv less paddy field, but the spirit to celebrate kaamatan is.still strong among sabahan. This celebration is celebrated every year on the 30-31 OF May every year, with some modern touch in it. The Sugandoi in other and is the singing competition. Its has become a major.part in Kaamatan celebration after the Unduk Ngadau (beauty queen).

Enuff bout that. This waht made me quite busy. Havent have that much precious.time to go and 'play' with my camera. My weekends is fully occupied with studies and weekdays, as usual, with works. Im studying part time but seriously im struggling. I just cant get my hand on what ive been studying. Its a big probem, considering im approaching the crucial time of my life. well, i have to just give it a try. No matter what.

KaDuS Entertainment
This is my baby. This is my passion. The. Local music industry, im running with my friend.under KaDus Entertainment. Im entering the 6th year in KE. And still i dont want it to be a major industry, or even changing it to be a major company in Saah. I just love how KE runs at the.moment. Well, when things getting more successful, they will be people who might thing they can do what they want. Sorry to say, but u r wrong. Although KE meant for everyone, it doesnt means that anybody can do or act on behalf of me. Im still the Founder/Owner of KE. Put that in you dictionary. For people who think that they can do what they wishes is wrong. They way KE runs it business is different than any other company, and i want it to be that way. Even if i have to dig my own money for.that. so if anyone thinking of doing what he/she like, stop it, u giving urself a big trouble. Ehehe

Twitter Activity vs Facebook
Aving dificulty accessing my FB acc for.almost a week. Dunno what have i done wrong, but i think i am.happy with it. i done feel that i 'really' need FB to operate my daily life, although FB has become useful tool nowadays, apart from social networking. Hmm... the words networking says it all. I've been more active in twitter. Set up an account way back in 2007 and only last year become.active again. No wonder more 'newbie' had become.more activethan me. Heehe . As for my FB account, ill try to figure it out this.coming days. Well at the time if writing i've completed 1 week without FB. Haahaha

Earthquake, Tsunami, Nuclear Scare in Japan
On friday, a powerful earthquake hit the coast of Japan. It measure 8.9 on the richter scale and has been billed as the largest quake in record. The effect of the quake, well, tsunami. About 10m high of tsunami hits Japan and reports saying that might be almost 10k people had died.or missing. The nuclear plant at Fukushima also 'having big problem'. And reports i read stated that one of the reactor had explode, and there are radiation leakage in surrounding area. One unofficial reports stated that one of volcano mountain in Japan had exploded. But.this.is.yet to be confirm.

Wat can you see or wrap up above? Dooms Day? The making of 2012? First, condolences to the people of Japan and those.who lost their.love one in this disaster. My prayer and thoughts are.with you. Be Strong.
I learn baout this when looking at the trending topic in twitter on my phone. I quickly went ack to the office.and inform my colleague about.ths, rush to see the news in the computer and the tsuami alarm as been rang in Japan, warningpeople that a tsuami is iminent. It was shockingly scary to see the footage from CNN, BBC and AlJazeera. the wave of tsunami hitting everything in it path. no forces could stop it. I still wondering what had.happen to the one car, who try to reverse back when the tsunami wave almost hits.the roads.

This.is God power.

Hi KaDuSViLLian... How are you all? Oh i guess it is not too late for me to wish each and everyone of you Gong Xi Fa Chai! May the year of the Rabbit will bring prosperity to you all! As for me, i wish for a continuous improvement on myself.

Well, nothing much to say here. I actually testing on this.new apps i downloaded from Android Market called Blogger-Droid. I actually posted one blog post few days ago using my iPhone but it didnt publish until now, and i remember i've press the "Publish" button, but hey, this is technology... i dont have any idea why it wont post. So rather than trying, turn to my HTC DHD and try to post using thus software... Thus post is hundred percent type from my phone using Blogger-Droid apps, the keyboard while listening to Neon Trees's Animal (love this song). Well so far so good...

There are so many function that i wish to test here. Hopefully i can get it posted on my blog, www.kadusville.net. The typo error is because type too fast that i don't know what character i've typed...hehehe. Lets test this thing!

Inserted a picture. Dont know where it is placed yet as i need to post it before.i can see the placement. Some info about the.pic, it is a black & white scenario of a bus terminal in Donggongon. It was taken from our office gym...

I was actually looking for.the option where i can embbed my fav YouTube vids on this.blog, but so far fail to find.

Overall this apps is good. But i still need to keep on trying to see what i can do about it. I can see my older blog post here and it is easier for.me to see which draft i havent post yet. Hehe. So i think thats it for now.

KaDuS Bilang:

1st Post of 2011

Hello readers! it's been a while...? while? it's been a very long time lah, easy to say. Over two months of absent. How am i going to catch up? Yeah, blame it on Facebook. hahahaha. nah, i've communicate less in FB nowadays. Only checking incoming message using my phone, and that's it. i guess time is the main issue here. I dont have that much time to write a post in this blog. Should i abandoned this blog? I don't think so. I think i should slowly catch up with the rest. Guess a lot of blogger had already abandoned their blogs and turn into FB. How fast technology change. Still remember i used to be an active chatters in MiRC and stop using it after i started using Yahoo! Messenger. After that i totally forget about MiRC. Does blogging will suffer the same fate as MiRc because of Facebook?

Talking about blogging, i remember one news (local one) headlining a news article about one food critics and a restaurant in KK. I don't think it is a things to mention the name of the blog and also the name of the restaurant involve. Well, i wouldn't risk myself to be sued just because of  my posting... hehehehe. The restaurant owner is suing the blogger for a posting allegedly degrading the standard of the restaurant. I never been to the restaurant so i couldn't give my opinion on this. But i only can say that, this might be a remote cases and since the owner of the restaurant, maybe wanted to see how popular is he in the internet, he might stumble upon on Google about this article. Well it happened to me, and i have being warned. I once wrote a post about our organization annual dinner, where i say i am not really into the event where there is a dress code in it. Yeah, it is time wasting to go and find an outfit for one event. Unfortunately my boss the CEO, found the posting while searching in google the rest is history. I learned my lesson. hehehehe.

So, whatever happen to freedom of speech in Malaysia? or should i ask, is there any Freedom of Speech in Malaysia? or even the world...? Well there are... Only that it ask us to used it wisely. Does the blogger used the freedom of speech wisely when he post about the food he taste in that restaurant? For me, yes. He's expressing his opinion. Do the restaurant owner doing the right thing for suing google and the blogger over the posting? Yes, if his business is decline because of the posting. So who could we blame? Who is in the wrong here? Well, for me the only way is to practice a safe blogging. One wrong posting, then be prepare for Police to visit your doorsteps. Honestly i feel pity for the Food Blogger around the state. They might have won the best actor award, for pretending everything is good. Cheer Up pal...

Well this end my post today. Hopefully there will be more post to come... i really hope... Until then, Good Night and have a nice day... oh, I am actually waiting for the Man. Utd Match against Southampton for the FA Cup 4th round... Hopefully they can advance to the next round... Come On MAn. Utd!!! Bye!!!

KaDuSViLLe Domain is Finally up.

The title above says it. Yes, finally i owned my own domain. Well, as long as i keep on paying the renewal fee, the domain name will be mine, and if i stops, others will get it. I've registered KaDuSViLLe.net last Thursday and only today (17 OCT) that i realized it is up after few days of tweaking here and there. I almost gave up, but after thinking that it is a waste of RM30 for purchasing the domain name, i've decided to continue searching for solution. Sayang bah tu RM30. Lama tu buli pakai bikin bili minyak.

Although the domain was up, i still experience some problem reaching it. Not sure about the reader out there, but i still get the OpenDNS "Unable to load page" error message. I don't used OpenDNS IP as my preferred DNS setting. I used it before but i've disabled it for sometime. I am just puzzled up why OpenDNS error comes out occasionally. Macam biskut bah, sekejap ada sekejap teda... hehehe

The page i sometime received when i directly type www.kadusville.net (or kadusville.net) on the address bar

On blogger site, the "dns not setup properly" message still occurred.

I dunnola... i think i've setup everything accordingly. Refer here and there, ends up i slept at almost 4 AM last morning, just to configure this up. I have to use other domain registrar service just to manage my domain, as the one i've register with didn't have the said function. Oh, FYI i've register with Mercumaya, Malaysian local web hosting company. To Mercumaya, If you are reading this, please, please lah... Invenst in upgrading ur sytem, so that we don't have to point our domain to a third party server, just to get it to our blog. Why can't we do it directly. I am started to think that i've made a mistake for choosing Mercumaya as my Domain registrar. I am currently considering to transfer my domain to other domain registrar. How bad... I've decided to temporally point the domain to www.dnsexit.com because it has the option to create a CNAME or Canonical Name. And also i can easily manage my domain name there. The only problem is that dnsExit has recently experience a DDOS Attack or Distributed Denial of Service Attack. I am not sure whether this contribute to the current problem i've experiencing now.

Satu lai problem yg timbul ialah, all my links, that i purposely put on my blog is missing. That link is for my easy reference to visit other blogger's blog, and it is missing. The good things is, i can fill it back, but it has to be done one by obe, and on top of that i don't even have a backup off it. Ada bah sia buat tu nga outdated suda. all the latest links with the latest blogger on it, ilang begitu saja. i have to refer to other blogger to redo my link. Those blog yang i do remember putting it, i will link it back. yang sia nda ingat tu, kasi tau lah blog link kamu, supaya senang sia mo visit blog kamu.

Whatever the problem above, it might be due to my incompetency of setting up my own domain. Well, let this be the lesson for me. I won't learn anything if i don't make a mistake. Now i've made the mistake, and now i know what can or can't i do.

FYI, KaDuSViLLe will be the same. Same content, same stories. Same style of writing, same grammatical error... it is still me... I only change my url, so that it can be easily remembered and refer. Well, lately i've been asked to do a talks about blogging so it would be nice to have a url that is simple to note. I will try to improve this from time to time, but until then, enjoy ur stay at KaDuSViLLe.net ... The Place I Belong

KaDuS Bilang:
Ndada juga setakat ni, it's just that i am really irate regarding how i still can't manage to set this blog URL properly. Well, never give up i said. But if any of you out there yang tau tentang ni masalah, please la bagitau sia... hehehehe... TQ!!!

Another Murder? Whatever happened to the world today...

Blum reda cerita pembunuhan kejam Datuk Sosilawati Lawiya dan 3 orang rakannya, sia dikejutkan lagi dengan satu lagi berita pembunuhan kejam dan kali ini ia berlaku hampir dengan sia. Um, not that near lah, but at the same state and buli sia cakap driving distance, well, it's quite near juga. The disappearance and subsequently murder of Annie John Dismas, a nurse from Kudat was on the lips of everybody especially Sabahan who indeed very shocked because of this case.

I personally don't know her. Although she went to the same University as me. She's taken different courses from me so i might never see her at the campus. She come from Kudat, where i do have a lot of friends from there and few nurses friend from the northern part of Sabah. Her fiance was from Kg. Mahandoi, Penampang, Not far from where i used to live, and i do have a lot of relative residing there. So when i first heard of this story on Saturday (the disappearance) and the finding of a semi-nude bodies inside a drain at Taman Kingfisher, Likas Today (the murder), i could not help myself to ask around just to get the latest news about this.

Semi-Nude? yep... That was what is being written in the news. A lot of you might have an idea on how was the crime committed, rite? No need for me to elaborate more, as this could instill pain for her family and friends who might be reading this. I know it's hard for them to accept this, especially the way she died.

I don't want to speculate the motive of this crime. At this time of writing, i guess police are still investigating this. A lot of 'theory' is buzzing around, especially on the internet, where people express their feeling toward this crime. As i say, speculating is not my main purpose of writing this, i hope that readers would not put their own speculation or theory about this incident.

I've followed the murder case of Datuk Sosilawati Lawiya closely via the internet. That gruesome murder happened because of 'a business deal turn sour' (as quoted by many newspaper). The prosecution team is working very hard to collect evidence to bring the suspect to justice the gallows. How life so easily been taken away just because of that event. Well, this is how a criminals acted. They get what they want and they'll do anything to get it. Even killing.

Back to the late Annie stories. A very dedicated nurse, as per describe by her colleague at the Kudat Hospital, she's enrolled for a Bachelor in Nursing Studies at Open Universities Malaysia (OUM) was was supposed to attend weekend classes there. Such a high hope but ends so quickly because of one human ANIMAL. Ya, animal!!! Why do i call him/her that. Well, God gave us brain to think and act wisely. Tapi ni, think and act foolishly. Sia rasakan ini urang yg buat ni penuh dengan bisikan syaitan di telinga dia. Whether he/she did it purposely or not, it doesn't matter anymore. Annie's gone and gone too soon. Was supposed to get marry next year (according to one of her relative) and yet this animal action kills all what could be a happy day for her. Kepada pembunuh Annie John Dismas, or urang yg kenal ni pembunuh, kali saudara dia ka, yang terbaca ni, read this:

I'M HERE NOT TO JUDGE WHAT HAVE YOU DONE. I'M NO GOD FOR DOING THAT. FURTHERMORE I THINK YOU ARE NOT WORTH TO RECEIVE A JUDGMENT FROM ME. NOT EVEN CONDEMNING YOU... NOT WORTH IT. I HOPE YOU ARE READY TO FACE THE REALITY THAT NO MATTER WHERE YOU GO, SOMEHOW OR SOMEDAY YOU WILL GET CAUGHT! IF NOT IN THIS WORLD, THEN MUST BE IN AFTER WORLD. WELL IF YOU GOT CAUGHT NOW AND BEEN SENTENCE TO DEATH, YOU WILL RECEIVE TWO PUNISHMENT. SO READY LAH KO BINATANG. KO PINYA KEPINTARAN NDA AKAN BANTU KO LAGI... SAMADA KO MEMBUNUH DENGAN NIAT ATAU TIDAK, SMUA URANG AKAN LABEL KO SEBAGAI SEORANG PEMBUNUH!!!

Seeing the way some of her friends express their feeling towards this incident, i could say that Annie John Dismas was a wonderful person. Someone who is so lovable, friendly and caring. It's a loss when Annie John Dismas left their friends and family. I wouldn't want to imagine how they feel because i know this is hurting. To all Annie John Dismas friends and family who might stumble upon this blog, Condolence from the deepest of my heart! Please be patient as this might be God greatest test to you all. Keep on praying for Annie's soul. I will...

KaDuS Bilang:
Cukup lah sia cakap ni... macam banyak uda... ANNIE JOHN DISMAS, although don't know you, i just wish your soul will Rest In Peace. My prayers will go with you. May the perpetrators of this will be revealed soon and we know who did this to you. Rest In Peace...

And Another templates

Whoa! I Finally manage to change my blog template from the old one (can't remember when was the last time i changed it) to this new one...

This was my old blog template. Believe it or not... i found this one is more 'cantik' than the current one. Hmmm... Dunno... I still need to find a template that suits me. Haven't been blogging for quite sometime and i think this is the right time to start over again.. so i decided to change my blog template first. Well since i am soooo sleepy... this is the best i can do... i still need to tweak this template though. My HTML coding skills was rusty, i know... haven't been doing coding or even programming for such a long time, due to some 'mysterious' circumstances... hahahaha.

I need to find or create a very simple template, that is easy for for all of you to read and easy for me to retrieve/check/see whatever lah. Hopefully can do it today, after i come back from a friendly soccer match between the Lojitan Family and the Mojitoh's Family. Hope i will not feel exhausted.

Until then see you all... hehehehe

Was almost cheated... Cheated?

Yesterday was a great day for me to do some shopping. I went to Centre Point to look for a pair of futsal boots. Really need one as my current one is not in good shape anymore. I end up bought two pairs of boots, one is for futsal, and one is for outdoor soccer. But that was not the place i almost cheated. It happened at Mega Long Shopping Mall Donggongon. Sia rasa, when i mention this Shopping Mall, most of you would know why i am saying "almost cheated". Hehehehe

Mega Long (what is the correct spelling of this? MEGALONG or MEGA LONG???) is the latest attraction of Penampang and Donggongon Town. It boost the Longest Shopping mall in Sabah. And for the first time, Giant set it's foot on Penampang. Also this is the first time that a cinema was built in Penampang, All in Mega Long. In megalong you could find a lot of attractive shops and outlet, not forgetting famous fast food chain. uiks, lari topik!!! hahaha. Cukup lah... kalau kamu mo tau, pigi ja sindri..

After coming back from Center Point went straight to Giant as i want to buy something there. On my way to Giant, i was stop by a young girl asking me to write down my name just to "make sure they are doing their job". The dialog lebih kurang macam ni...

Girl: Abang, tulis nama saja. Kami tiada punch card, nanti boss cakap kami nda buat kerja. Untuk rekod saja.
Me: OK. Buli bah kalau ko...

This shop is one of many located inside Mega Long. No need for me to mention their name as i know a lot of you would have guess it. I heard lot's of "fraud" stories regarding this company. Normally i would say no and walk away. But since i want to know what does they mean by fraud or cheat, i give myself a try. She ask me to follow me inside the shop and ask me to fill in the spot & win contest. Antam ja lah... Then she went inside to get i envelope containing the car sticker, and voucher. Kunun2 asia dapat RM200 cash voucher... Buli kunun beli barang sana. Then ada lai satu Vocher, RM100 but this time with gambar. periuk and stove. Trus this girl colleague, a guy come and sit with us. Bermula episod marketing derang.

Come to this young guy surprise (kunun lagi) the RM100 Voucher is (Kunun2) for special customer and i am kunun-kunun the lucky one to receive 2 items worth RM6k ++. Huah... Lucky kan... They even "called" their boss to ask him to further explain to me about the offer. The dialog, lebih kurang di bawah...

Boss: Sia mo minta confirmation yang your voucher ada gambar those two items?
Me: Ya... Voucher harga RM100 with the pic of the two item.
Boss: This is to confirm that you never purchased anything at our shop, or register to any offer from us?
Me: Nda pernah. This is the first time i heard about your company.
Boss: Okay, yang sebenarnya kami randomly put in the voucher inside the envelope. Not even our staff  there know about it. Based on the running number, you are lucky enough to become our company ambassador. Di Sabah only a few saja yang dapat ni. You don't need to pay for this two item, as you will get it for free. The company will sponsor you to use it and you will promote this to your neighbour or family member. I'll let my staff explain further...
Me: OK... (dengan stail yang blur2 ni)

The the male staff, explain to me about the offer. the so called company ambassador program and a lot of benefits... bla bla bla & so forth. They even demonstrate to me on how to used the appliance with one flies become victim of their demonstration. Hehehehe... Then the demo, the sweet talk ended. They are back to bussiness. They inform me, in order for me to get two sponsored item, i need to cash in the RM100 voucher and buy any item in the shop. They proposed me one item, priced about RM2988 (whoah!!!) and using the RM100 voucher the new price is RM2888. After failing to convince me, the called their 'boss' and the 'boss' agreed to give me a 'special' price of RM1688 for me to buy the one appliance and get the other two for free. They even ask for my credit card and my atm card, so that they can 'help' if i don't have cash in hand. After almost two hours of negotiating, talking and listening, i had enough. i told them that maybe this is not my luck so let other people get this. I'm off the shop went straight to giant. End of story.

Now i know how it works. They are desperate to sell the product so badly, even have to do something that annoyed other people. Gained the experiences of being tried to buy a thing, i know how it feel, learn some new things, but what i hate the most i totally forgot what i want to buy at Giant, and at this time of writing, i still can't recalled what i want to buy there. This is all because of the so called lucky offer. Kenapa juga sia mo pigi try ah? hahahaha

From my observation, i don't think their main intention is to cheat. but the way they run their marketing strategy makes people thinks they want to cheat. My findings...

1. At first, they just want you to fill in name, even promised won't take long time, even heard they say, "tidak beli pun tidak apa", but ends up listening to their offer after offer.

2. The voucher is priced at RM200 and RM100. The items in the shop is priced within RM2500 to RM5000. Apa lah guna tu voucher tu? Untuk mengaburi mata saja sia rasa.

3. Why do you repeatedly ask for my ATM or my Credit Card (i told them i didn't brings both card), even offer to go to my home, just to swipe it? I think if i have gave them my cards, they might swipe it without my knowledge.

4. They called their boss, but it is like that their 'boss' is just around the corner, maybe sitting at Marybrown eating french fries. Suara tu boss pun macam too good to be a boss... macam colleague dia saja.

More... nanti lah... hehehehe...

Their marketing strategy in my opinion is dead wrong. It seems that they are forcing people to buy their products. I even overheard the other group of promoter saying the same things to the other customer they manage to 'catch'. The words are, "Anda adalah yg bertuah di Megalong ni ari. Urang lain pun tidak bertuah macam anda". Sia salah dangar? what about me...? hmmm... Berapa ramai yang "bertuah" oh? Ramai yang sia dengar nyaris kena, or ada yang uda kena... Kena swipe derang pinya ATM or even Credit Card... Ada cerita sia dengar sampai Tourist kana suru bayar sampai RM15k but not sure dimana or adakah the same company. This way of promoting and marketing should be tweak to suit the people here. Be reasonable... You are not selling cheap children book worth RM20. You are selling appliances ranging from RM2k to RM5k.Not all people have enough money for that.

KaDuS Bilang:
Sia nda blame tu promoter lah... derang tu cuma kerja. Mo earn the commission untuk bayar overdue bills derang. ada yang masi belajar, ada juga yang ada family uda. Just that sia rasa cara derang untuk mo get custumer tu salah. Maybe itulah arahan daripada big boss derang, and they have no other choice but to obey it. Hmmm... Guess derang ingat macam jual buku jak ni... hmmm... It has to be stop... Megalong Management should see it over, to avoid untowards incident. Sia buli tahan... sia buli layan... tapi nda smua urang macam sia... Kalau tekana yang pemanas? buli menjejaskan reputasi tu kompeni and Megalong in whole...

Pandangan sia yang kabur lah...

10+ mistakes Linux newbies make

I found this article from ZDNet Website. It was originally posted on TechRepublic website. You may visit this site HERE. I found this topic quite useful especially i am one of many Linux user and a Novell Certified Linux Professional (NCLP). It's been a long time since i used Linux. At office i once have full access on all the Linux installed PC and server, but since this guy, the no-life guy come to our organization, Linux day in the office are gone... Sad...

Some of us might have used linux for whole of their life, maybe some kind of an expert. They might know this and might have "been there". Especially when you are new, and just wanna venture into Linux. You may find this somewhat funny as i did, because i've done almost all the "mistakes". Hehehe...

So lets get on with the article...

10+ (plus) Mistakes Linux Newbie Make
by Jack Wallen

New desktop users can make plenty of mistakes (as can anyone). But knowing which mistakes to avoid, from the start, helps prevent a LOT of frustration. I’ve handled the topic of mistakes new Linux admins make, but never those of desktop users. Here are some of the most common Linux desktop mistakes I see new users make.

1: Assuming they are using Windows

Although this might seem way too obvious, it’s not. The average user has no idea there are even different operating systems to be had. In fact, most average users couldn’t discern Windows XP from Vista from 7 (unless they are certain Windows 7 was “their idea”). Because of this, new users might believe that everything works (or doesn’t work, as the case may be) as it does in Windows. Make your end users aware that they are using a different operating system — and that it works differently.
KaDuS Bilang: Done This... hehehe... try to do some Windows command on Linux platform. Sampai sia pigi cakap ni sistem buruk... hahahaha. Rupanya lain...

2: Trying to make exe files work

Unless you have done your homework and installed WINE, double-clicking those .exe files simply won’t do anything. And when that happens, your end users are going to be upset. I have seen many an end user download an app made for Windows assuming that it will work for Linux. Make it clear to users that Linux, like Windows, will only run applications made for that operating system. This, of course, is tossed out the window when WINE is involved. But new users won’t be using WINE anyway.
KaDuS Bilang: Even try to install Yahoo! Messenger on Linux until i found Meebo. Then i quit trying although there is a YM Version of Linux... huhuhu

3: Choosing the wrong distribution

One of the biggest problems for users is choosing the wrong distribution. Imagine being a new user and selecting Gentoo or Slackware or Fedora! Yes those are all good distributions, but any of them would send a new user running away in fear. If you are in the initial stages of helping a new user out, do yourselves both a favor and choose the distribution carefully. Consider the user’s ability, needs, and hardware before you make that selection. Don’t just jump on board Ubuntu because everyone says you should. A lot of distributions out there are made specifically for new users. Give them all a close examination before making the choice.
KaDuS Bilang: My first Linux Distro was Red Hat (forgot what version was it) and yes i have no idea what it is all about. Since then i've been using Ubuntu (derived from Debian) and SuSe

4: Not finding software

Because so many new Linux users are migrating from Windows, they think software can be had from the same channels. Most of the time, this is not the case. The new user needs to become familiar with their package management tools right away - especially tools like Synaptic, Packagekit, and Ubuntu Software Center. Each of those tools is a mecca of software where users can most likely find all the applications they need.

5: Sending OpenOffice documents to Microsoft Office users in the default format

I see this so often. New Linux users are proud of the strides they have made but dumbfounded (and sometimes turned back to Windows) because the people they share files with can’t read their formats. Remember, Microsoft products are not good at getting along with other operating systems and other applications. Make sure your new users are saving in file formats that are readable by the Microsoft equivalents.
KaDuS Bilang: I always save my documents in M.Office Format (i.e. .doc, .xls) as i know Open Office can Handle it.

6: Avoiding the command line

I can’t, for the life of me, figure out why people completely avoid the command line as if it is the most complex tool there is. I know people who can work absolute magic with Photoshop but can’t seem to type a simple rm command at the command line. Why this is I will never know. New users shouldn’t shy away from the command line. Knowing the command line isn’t essential anymore, but it will make them more capable users.
KaDuS Bilang: I've tried to avoid this during my first time, but i can't because i have trouble findings application that i want to run, or removing a folder or file when i have to forced remove it. hehehe...

7: Giving up too quickly

Here’s another issue I see all too often. After a few hours (or a couple of days) working with Linux, new users will give up for one reason or another. I understand giving up when they realize something simply doesn’t work (such as when they MUST use a proprietary application or file format). But seeing Linux not work under average demands is rare these days. If you see new Linux users getting frustrated, try to give them a little extra guidance. Sometimes getting over that initial hump is the biggest challenge they will face.
KaDuS Bilang: Never Do this. i never quit Linux, although i rarely used it... hehehe

8: Thinking the Windows directory hierarchy translates to Linux

There is no C:\ in Linux. Nor do you use the “\” character. Nor should you use spaces in filenames. These are common mistakes new users make. Trying to map out Windows to Linux, directory for directory, is impossible. You can get as far as C:\ = / and maybe Default User = ~/, but beyond that you’re out of luck. Make sure new users understand that everything starts at / and their most important directory is their home directory (aka ~/ aka /home/USERNAME/).
KaDuS Bilang: First question sia dulu, "MANA C Drive?" hehehe... Until i use Ubuntu (or any other KDE Linux) where i can mount C (or any Drive) and use it like windows. heheheh

9: Skipping updates

I have been burned with Windows updates many times. Need I bother mentioning the update from Explorer 7 to Explorer 8? Very rarely has a Linux update fubar’d a system of mine. In fact, I can’t remember the last time it has. So I am always up to date on my systems… and with good reason. Those updates bring new security patches and features to software and should be applied. Having an installation with a security hole is not what your users need, especially on a machine that houses important information.
KaDuS Bilang: On top of that it will take a very looong time to update Linux if you haven't update for a long time and making you much frustrated. Hehehe

10: Logging in as root

I really shouldn’t have to say this. But just in case, be sure to tell your users DON’T LOG IN AS ROOT! But… just in case they must… DON’T LOG IN AS ROOT! Instead, have them open up a terminal window and either “su” to root or use “sudo”. And just in case you didn’t hear me the first time, DON’T LOG IN AS ROOT!
KaDuS Bilang: Never do this. Once i was explained about this i never login as root until i really confident and know what am i doing.

11: Losing windows to the pager

The pager is one of the handiest features of the Linux desktops. But over and over, I’ve seen that new users don’t quite understand what the pager is for and what it does. Because of this, they will “lose” their windows from the desktop. Where did it go? It was there a moment ago! I guess it crashed. No. More than likely, they moved it to another desktop. Another desktop? You see where this is going? Help the new user understand what the pager is and how useful it can be.
KaDuS Bilang: This can be quite confusing if nobody explain to me before...

12: Ignoring security because it’s Linux

A big part of me still wants to boast and say, “In the 12 years I have used Linux, I have never once had a virus or worm or been hacked.” Although that is true, it doesn’t mean I should ignore security. I have witnessed the effects of a rootkit on a Linux machine. They aren’t pretty and data will be lost. Tell your users that they can’t ignore security just because they’re using Linux. Security is crucial, regardless of the OS.
KaDuS Bilang: Yup... this is true. I know that virus/worm infection on Linux machine is rare, but once infected, it will effect in a long time. Lucky me, i never encounter this. Hehehehe

KaDuS Bilang:
Bah kamu cuba lah.. kasi pas2 ni pengetahuan sama semua urang... Hehehe.

Happy Malaysia Day!!!

While i know i'm late in wishing all Malaysian (it's 17th September 2010 - the celebration was on 16th September 2010), i hope readers (if any) wont feel angry with me. Hehe... Well, here it is, Happy Malaysia Day to All Malaysian, especially the state that joined the Malaya Federation to formed Malaysia on 16th September 1963. For this year Malaysia Days, i would like to include this article found on Wikipedia for our viewing pleasure.

The 20-Point Agreement.

This act as a terms and condition for North Borneo (Sabah's old name) to join the new Federation of Malaysia. The main reason for this conditions is to make sure that the interest, rights and autonomy are to be safeguards when they join Malaysia. Sarawak State do have their own condition, known as The 18-Points Agreement. It is important for younger generation (like me) to know what it is inside the 20-Point Agreement so that thay can trully understand what Malaysia Day are for them. Sia rasalah... hehehe

So Here is the 20-Points of Agreements for Sabah (Copy from Wikipedia!)

Point 1: Religion

While there was no objection to Islam being the national religion of Malaysia there should be no State religion in North Borneo, and the provisions relating to Islam in the present Constitution of Malaya should not apply to North Borneo

Point 2: Language

  • a. Malay should be the national language of the Federation
  • b. English should continue to be used for a period of 10 years after Malaysia Day
  • c. English should be an official language of North Borneo for all purposes, State or Federal, without limitation of time.

Point 3: Constitution

Whilst accepting that the present Constitution of the Federation of Malaya should form the basis of the Constitution of Malaysia, the Constitution of Malaysia should be a completely new document drafted and agreed in the light of a free association of states and should not be a series of amendments to a Constitution drafted and agreed by different states in totally different circumstances. A new Constitution for North Borneo (Sabah) was of course essential.

Point 4: Head of Federation

The Head of State in North Borneo should not be eligible for election as Head of the Federation

Point 5: Name of Federation

“Malaysia” but not “Melayu Raya”

Point 6: Immigration

Control over immigration into any part of Malaysia from outside should rest with the Central Government but entry into North Borneo should also require the approval of the State Government. The Federal Government should not be able to veto the entry of persons into North Borneo for State Government purposes except on strictly security grounds. North Borneo should have unfettered control over the movements of persons other than those in Federal Government employ from other parts of Malaysia into North Borneo.

Point 7: Right of Secession

There should be no right to secede from the Federation.

Point 8: Borneanisation

Borneanisation of the public service should proceed as quickly as possible.

Point 9: British Officers

Every effort should be made to encourage British Officers to remain in the public service until their places can be taken by suitably qualified people from North Borneo.

Point 10: Citizenship

The recommendation in paragraph 148(k) of the Report of the Cobbold Commission should govern the citizenship rights in the Federation of North Borneo subject to the following amendments:
  • a) sub-paragraph (i) should not contain the proviso as to five years residence
  • b) in order to tie up with our law, sub-paragraph (ii)(a) should read “7 out of 10 years” instead of “8 out of 10 years”
  • c) sub-paragraph (iii) should not contain any restriction tied to the citizenship of parents – a person born in North Borneo after Malaysia must be federal citizen.

Point 11: Tariffs and Finance

North Borneo should retain control of its own finance, development and tariff, and should have the right to work up its own taxation and to raise loans on its own credit.

Point 12: Special position of indigenous races

In principle the indigenous races of North Borneo should enjoy special rights analogous to those enjoyed by Malays in Malaya, but the present Malaya formula in this regard is not necessarily applicable in North Borneo

Point 13: State Government

  • a) the Chief Minister should be elected by unofficial members of Legislative Council
  • b) There should be a proper Ministerial system in North Borneo.

Point 14: Transitional period

This should be seven years and during such period legislative power must be left with the State of North Borneo by the Constitution and not be merely delegated to the State Government by the Federal Government.

Point 15: Education

The existing educational system of North Borneo should be maintained and for this reason it should be under state control.

Point 16: Constitutional safeguards

No amendment modification or withdrawal of any special safeguard granted to North Borneo should be made by the Central Government without the positive concurrence of the Government of the State of North Borneo
The power of amending the Constitution of the State of North Borneo should belong exclusively to the people in the state.

(Note: The United Party, The Democratic Party and the Pasok Momogun Party considered that a three-fourth majority would be required in order to effect any amendment to the Federal and State Constitutions whereas the UNKO and USNO considered a two-thirds majority would be sufficient.)

Point 17: Representation in Federal Parliament

This should take account not only of the population of North Borneo but also of its size and potentialities and in any case should not be less than that of Singapore.

Point 18: Name of Head of State

Yang di-Pertua Negeri.

Point 19: Name of State

Sabah.

Point 20: Land, Forests, Local Government, etc.

The provisions in the Constitution of the Federation in respect of the powers of the National Land Council should not apply in North Borneo. Likewise, the National Council for Local Government should not apply in North Borneo.

KaDuS Bilang:
Baca, faham and pikir2 lah sindri... Happy Malaysia Day To All...!!!

Why Insult My State, Sabah?

"Why insult Sabah? What has the state of Sabah done wrong to you? Do you have any problem with us?"

This is some of the question i might ask to the SOB kid tha has been insulting The state of Sabah although indirectly. Hmm... Using a social networking website such as Facebook to "express opinion" towards one states was a silly things to do. Everybody can see that. Mind as well he wrote a special column in the national newspaper about what he dislike about Sabah.

This happened few days ago when i saw a screenshot of a comment written in the Facebook wall of one Luca Lukas. Dunno whether this is a real person or just a hantu lah. Don't even dare to put his real location, real picture.. Cowards. I guess most of my FB friends has seen that comment and to be frank it's hurts just to read it... Ini kah yg derang mo kasi bangga tu konsep 1 Malaysia? Hmmm... Guess this guy don't even know how many states there are in Malaysia. Although you are not directly insulting Sabah, but your intention is that you are insulting Sabah... Bodoh Btul.

To compare Sabah with another 'developed' states is a stupid things to do. Every states in Malaysia ada kelebihan and kelemahan. You want to compare the advantage with the disadvantages? adei... kenapalah ko ni budu btul...? Kenapa lah Sabah cuma ada Gunung Kinabalu yg buli dibanggakan? At least our Gunung is rated as one of the toughest mountain to climb in the world. It has brought Malaysia name as one of the Top tourist destination in the world. Same goes to Pulau Sipadan. Kalau ko pikir bagus2, we have contributed some of Malaysia economics via tourism. Sama juga macam negeri lain.  So smua ada peranan bah. Yg ko nda puas ati kenapa? What is your contribution towards your country? States? Or even your community? Oh, maybe you are as proud by your contribution as a foul mouth SOB, who don't even know anything. Sia rasakan, kalau teda sumbangan ekonomi dari negeri Sabah dan negeri lain2 di Malaysia ni, blum tentu ko dapat guna Facebook or even surf the internet. Hahahaha...

Talk about illegal immigrant, okay, i do admit, mmg berlambak lah di sini. But pikir balik little boy... Do you think that ur place is 100% clear of all this illegal immigrant problem? So tinguk ko pinya persekitaran sebelum ko cuba mo critics pasal tempat urang... Blajar cermin diri sindri sebelum ko mo komen urang len...

About kakitangan kerajaan dari semenanjung yg kerja di sini... I guess ko mimang nda tau apa2 pasal kerajaan Malaysia... Ko tentu nda tau yg derang pigi bertugas di sini bukan atas permintaan derang, tapi atas arahan kerajaan yg berpusat di ibu negara, KUALA LUMPUR. ko tau ka di mana KL? I guess u don't know, sebab tu lah ko cakap macam tu kan. Go back to school u idiot... Ambil Pengajian Malaysia or Pengajian AM. Jan lupa ambil Pengajian Moral. It can help u in the long run... Trust me...

Banyak lai daa yg sia mo tulis, but i don't want to be labeled as racist. Luca Lukas, seriusly talking u have what it takes to be the number one racist in the Malaysia... Ada sudah ciri-ciri ko tu. Kalau sia kasi post what u've said in ur FB wall sini, maybe api kemarahan urang Sabah akan lebih meningkat. So better jangan... Ko pikr ja lah sindri... Keep your mouth running and be ready for a lot of police reports being made towards you... When it happened i'll be one of many people to laugh...So Luca Lukas, or whatever this SOB name is, Grow Up! Please...

End of opinion... Hahahaha

KENTE 2: Heat 2 Result

Back... Nor From Exile. Hehehehe... Okay, Don't waste any more time. Let's go on with this review. The KaDuS Entertainment Next Top Entertainer competition that entered Heat two last Friday, 5 Mac 2010. The Audience respoded to me that this heat so far has become the best heat in this season of KE Next Top Entertainer. This heat build up from the low to the highest quality of performances. On paper, this heat is bills as one of the toughest out of 5 heats and it's proved to be true, as 10 contestant trying hard to give their best of convincing the three judges that night to be the top 2 automatic entry to the Final.

The Top two contestant who make it to the finals are As Bryan Amre and Rudy Paul Pailus. Both manage to convince the judges to select them as two of the best singer that night. There were hope left for two female contestant (both heat 2 finalist are male), as they were both handed another chance to perform in one more heat, namely the Wild Card Heat where the top 2 of this heat will gain a backdoor entry to the Grand Finale. Jeniffer Julius, impressed the judges to vote for her, while the audience voted for Jasliah Elon as their choice to have another go at the competition. The Wildcard Round will be on 3rd April and the Grand Finale will be held on 16th April 2010.

THE FINALIST

Rudy Paul Pailus (Surprised Everyone with his vocal power) & As Bryan Amre (The predicted finalist by fans)

THE WILD CARD ENTRY

Jasliah Elon (Crowd Choices) & Jeniffer Julius (Judges Choices)

THE OTHER CONTESTANT...

The KENTE 2: Heat 2 Contestant

Those Lucky one
L-R (Jasliah (Audience), Jennifer (Judges) - As Bryan (Finalist) & Rudy (Finalist)

By far, this is the best heat of KENTE 2. The surprised performance from Rudy Paul Pailus received a well deserved ovation from the crowds. They didnt expect this would come from Rudy, Decent turns into Brilliant Performance. Personally, the moment i listened to Rudy's Voices, i knew straightly that this guy will go to the final, but before that, he will rocks Pusakag Cafe. He did it. He end the night on a high note.

It is too early to say that this is the Best Heat. We still have heat 3, 4 and 5 not forgetting the Wildcard Heat. They might have an idea on what they will do to impressed these really hard judges. So, be there to witness maybe another shock or surprised by KENTE 2 contestant.
